3 Quick Tips For Crystal Clear Pool Water

Properly sanitizing your swimming pool and keeping your water’s pH balanced are keys to ensuring your pool water stays crystal clear. However, apart from checking these things at least once a week (or at least 2-3 times a week during the summer), here are a few other quick tips to help along the way.

Cleaning Swimming Pool Skimmer Baskets

The skimmer baskets of any pool should be emptied and cleaned out completely at least once a week. If your pool is in an area where it gets a large amount of debris (i.e. under a tree), then you may need to clean the baskets out at least two or three times a week.

Cleaning Out Swimming Pool Filters

One of the most overlooked and vital parts of pool maintenance are the swimming pool filters since people tend to only think about them when it’s time to change them. However, they need to be cleaned at least every 4 to 6 months, and should be checked after a heavy storm which may have left a lot of debris in the pool.

If you aren’t sure that you need to clean out the filters, look for things such as:

  • Weak returns
  • A poorly performing in-floor cleaning system
  • Poor water clarity

Adjust Your Pool Water Levels

Your water level should always rest somewhere around the skimmer or the center of the tile around your pool. This is one of the easiest steps that will go a long way to making sure your pool stays crystal clear. If you need to add more water, by all means top it up.

These simple steps, on top of effective pool sanitization and proper pH levels, will help keep your swimming pool water clean and clear all season long. If you have any questions or would like help maintaining your swimming pool, contact a trusted, local pool service company to assist you.
