If you’re in the market for a new hot tub, then you’re probably wondering which one is right for you. There are many models available from different manufacturers, and while the features you choose to incorporate into the tub all depend on what needs you’re trying to meet, you will notice a price difference across the board. So how do you decide which hot tub to purchase? And is there a difference between value hot tubs and high-end hot tubs? The short answer is yes, there is a difference. But deciding which one to invest in depends on what you’re personally looking for. Let’s take a look at the different factors that can influence the price of a hot tub.

Energy Efficiency

By their very nature, hot tubs need to produce hot water. And that requires electricity. From reducing greenhouse gas emissions and lowering the cost of electricity bills, energy-efficient hot tubs are a preferred option amongst most people.

The high-end variety provides more energy efficiency with denser foam insulation and a higher quality hinge seal, which accounts for the much higher upfront costs. Fortunately, in the long run, you’re likely to recoup the cost with the lowered electricity bills.

Function

All hot tubs produce hot water and have the right amount of jets for you to enjoy them. While a value hot tub might have jets with larger pumps that don’t have as much pressure, you can still find a value model with a great number of jets that gives an awesome massage.

Just don’t expect much variety. Chances are value hot tubs will have one-directional sprays. This is as opposed to the more high-end ones that could have a pulsating, oscillator, or even deep relief jets. The price point will reflect that difference.

Material

This is a huge contributing factor in the price difference between these products. Hot tubs are often made from either vinyl, plastic, or acrylic. Vinyl hot tubs are less expensive compared to the other materials.

A value hot tub might come with some type of rotomolded plastic seal. Unlike the more expensive, glossy, acrylic seal commonly found in the more luxurious ones, this plastic seal often has a dull, matte finish that doesn’t offer the “WOW” factor of a high-end tub.

Comfort

High-end tubs are undoubtedly more comfortable than their more pocket-friendly counterparts. You can expect fancy seats that are ergonomically molded, have extra padding or feature a variety of extras such as footpads or armrests. Regardless, value hot tubs still have comfortable seats that ensure you have a great experience in them.

Beauty

Hot tub manufacturers certainly want you to have the value for your money. A high-end hot tub is likely to come with the full package – glowing lights, sleek design, fountains, and even some tech features such as Bluetooth connection or remote control features.

This would add to the price, but you can still very much bask in the comfort of a less beautified hot tub if you aren’t ready to make the jump up to a higher price point.

Quality

You can expect a top of the line hot tub to be made with higher-quality materials than less expensive ones. This makes them less likely to break down, thereby increasing their lifespan, and eventually saving you money on repairs and replacements.
