The Hot Tub Delay is Real, But Why?

For many people, the best thing about coming home after a long day is the ability to relax and unwind. A hot tub takes that to another level, soothing aching muscles and giving you a true spa-like experience. However, many homeowners who are looking for a hot tub right now are having trouble finding one. There are significant delays in terms of purchasing and installation.

What’s causing the hot tub delay? There are several factors — let’s take a look.

Extremely High Demand

Everyone is looking for more ways to relax without leaving home, which means hot tubs are in high demand. As a result, manufacturers are struggling to keep up. Most dealers are having to pre-order large numbers of hot tubs, knowing they will sell quickly.

As a result, manufacturers are behind on production and are receiving big orders to fill. For your hot tub seller to receive a unit to sell you, they have to wait their turn to have their order completed.

That’s just one of the reasons for the delay, however.

Production Reduced

Due to government regulations and shutdowns, many manufacturers had to slow production or even halt production for much of 2020. Even if they were able to operate, there were additional sanitation practices, employee health processes, and shortages from their suppliers that affected business operating as usual.

This means that at precisely the time demand was increasing, production was going down. More people wanted hot tubs to enjoy at home, but manufacturers couldn’t operate at full capacity. Eventually, we’ll catch up to where we need to be, but it might be a while before things are back to what we consider “normal.”

Unprecedented Weather

Hot tub manufacturers need various parts and materials to create the hot tub you’re eager to enjoy. Unfortunately, the extreme weather conditions in Texas earlier this year caused electrical blackouts, frozen pipes, and a significant amount of other damage.

The weather caused 100% of the state’s ethylene production, which operates using steam, to freeze and shut down, which is 75% of the overall capacity in the United States. Ethylene is a key component of polyethylene resin, which is used to make hot tub steps, padding, sides, and more. All vital components of a hot tub. Texas plants are working hard to clear their pipes and resume production, but the process has caused more delays.

Your Hot Tub is Worth the Wait

Waiting a few months for a hot tub is inconvenient, but the result is well worth it. You want to be able to relax and enjoy a staycation at your home, anytime you like. Once you receive your hot tub and it’s up and running, you won’t even think about the delay in getting it. You’ll be too busy relaxing your cares away in your own home.
