What is PebbleTec? A Solution to Traditional Pool Finishes

When it comes to building a pool, people often assume a traditional white pool finish is the only option. But the reality is, there are many pool finish options available that can elevate the look and functionality of your pool. A PebbleTec pool finish creates a more luxurious experience for pool owners both in and out of the water.

So what is PebbleTec and how will it change the look of my pool?

What is PebbleTec?

PebbleTec® (Pebble Technology International) is the original creator of aggregate pool finishes, which is a type of pool finish that combines small pieces of pebbles, seashells, glass beads, and plaster. While the original finish from the early 1960s was designed to spruce up driveways, an American businessman in Arizona purchased the patent for PebbleTec® and established it as a pool finish option. Since then, the technology brought to light a whole new way of adding natural beauty to pools.

A Durable Pool Finish

PebbleTec is a durable finish for pools because only the finest pebbles are selected and processed with care, ensuring the end result is of the utmost quality. The formula has been tested and retested since its development, and the application process is unique. PebbleTec finishes remain beautiful and durable for many years.

The durability and high-quality materials make PebbleTec® the right choice for any pool owner. There are a variety of different finish options to choose from, including:

  • PebbleTec: PebbleTec is the company’s original pool finish, leaving your pool with a more beautiful and natural look. While earthy textured finish is made from large pebbles, you are able to add different glass beads or a sea shell blend to add a more luminous or shimmering texture.
  • PebbleSheen: PebbleSheen contains slightly smaller pebbles than that found in the original PebbleTec finish, however you can expect the same non-slip, stain-resistant and durable features.
  • PebbleFina: PebbleFina features the smallest pebbles in the collection, making it the smoothest finish available. It is also etch-resistant which allows your finish to stay beautiful longer.
  • PebbleBrilliance: PebbleBrillance features vibrantly colored glass beads in this finish option giving your pool a unique color.

White vs. Color

So how do you decide whether to go with a classic white pool finish or color upgrade? Your pool finish creates a certain dynamic between the sunlight and the water, so it truly depends on the look you’re going for. If you’re wanting traditional clear-looking water, then a classic white finish is the way to go. If you’re wanting a rich, sea-like hue, then choose a darker finish color. The darker the finish, the darker your water appears.
